How to read these numbers
These are free-flow estimates, the kind you'd get driving at 10 p.m. They're useful for comparing neighbourhoods with each other, not for promising your boss you'll be on time. Two things push real commutes longer:
- The bridge is the only crossing. The William R. Bennett Bridge carries three westbound and two eastbound lanes and was designed for 80,000 vehicles a day. Every Westside commute to Kelowna funnels onto it, along with through traffic on Highway 97.
- Highway 97 through the Westside has traffic lights and turning traffic, so neighbourhoods farther from the bridge, like Glenrosa and Smith Creek, pick up more delay on the way.
The honest way to test a commute is to drive it at the hour you'd really leave, on a weekday, before you buy. Sean is happy to suggest a route for a test run.

Other options
BC Transit's Kelowna Regional Transit System serves West Kelowna, and service on Route 97 Okanagan increased in January 2026 (City of West Kelowna). The bridge's 1.3-metre path on the south side makes cycling possible from Casa Loma and Lakeview Heights.
